Skills conference/trip to Parliament!

What’s up everyone? Just thought I’d give you a quick update on what I got up to this past weekend, it was actually a pretty cool weekend.

Friday I took the day off work and began the bus trip to the University of Toronto Mississauga campus for a conference with a few people from Laurentian called SKILLS. The conference was put on by the CFS which is the Canadian Federation of Students. This group is basically dedicated to looking out for students across Canada. The weekend was packed with presentations that would help any student protect themselves and how to work together as a team. It was pretty cool to see what they had to say about current issues involving students and their views on a lot of situations.

With me at the conference, there was Andy (President of the SGA) and Ryan (Frosh week coordinator). It was awesome to see these guys and it was great to catch up with them, even though I had seen Ryan in Ottawa the week before. Another cool experience about the weekend was that the Toronto Argo’s were also residing on campus for their summer camp. These guys would walk through our dining area, and I have never seen so many guys who are all huge! Even though most of these guys are tanks, I feel like I could still take most of them on……in a starring contest.

On Sunday, we ended the conference and I began the trip on the Greyhound back to the Nations Cap. I got in around midnight so it is safe to say that I was a wee bit tired on Monday but that’s why there is coffee J

On Monday, I met Steph downtown (if you do not know who Steph is, you should refresh your mind and read my last blog) and we grabbed some dinner, and then ate it on parliament hill. After this, we went into Parliament and actually sat in on the House of Commons. This was really cool, as there was a debate about the budget going on. I lived in Ottawa last summer, as well as this summer and this was my first time going in the Parliaments and I highly recommend checking them out if you are in the area.

Anyways, that’s about it for now!
