A Great Place to Watch the London Games

I was flipping through the Laurentian Viewbook today and came across the “Dining in Sudbury” section on page 13. I felt a sense of pride in myself as a food-loving Sudburian when I discovered that I had eaten at most of the restaurants listed. (There are a few I haven’t eaten at yet but I’ll have to now). The last eatery on the list, I’m happy to claim, is my (other) place of employment.

Eddie’s Sports Bar

Best burger in town—great hangout spot!

I would like to attest that Eddie’s does in fact have the best burger in town; as well as delicious perogies, chicken fingers, wings, blueberry pancakes, nachos, deep fried pickles, and many other dishes that I haven’t had a chance to try yet (but I’m sure are delicious as well).

Located about a 5 minute drive from the LU campus, it’s a perfect place for students to grab a bite to eat (or a drink if you’re of age) and watch the game. You also may be served by a really nice waitress who happens to be a blogger for LU (not naming any names).

Speaking of ‘watching the game’, I’ve been busy with work so I haven’t caught much of the 2012 London games yet but what I have seen has been incredible! I caught some of the women’s paired diving last night and it was ridiculous how in-sync these women are. How do you manage to hurl yourself gracefully towards the water at the exact same time as the woman beside you?! (A question I’ll have to ask an Olympian one

day). I saw the mens rowing eight practically flying at 38 strokes per minute (a speed I can appreciate as someone who has been winded going 26 strokes per minute).

So students: If you’re hungry or thirsty, come over to Eddie’s (across from the Regent St. McDonalds) and cheer on Canada in the Olympics!

GO CANADA!
